Story – A brand new look in the Diamond Industry

What’s the cue to a good idea? How do we enable innovation? Often by… coincidence.

Eva Van Looveren (CEO 3D Diamonds & Diamscan), pregnant for a couple of months, was happy to be expecting twins. She got inspired; her pregnancy was a sparkling source of inspiration… She hit upon the idea to create a special diamond for her twins. Twins catch more attention and the diamond had to do the same.

In the design of the particular diamond cut, the point of view was to do something with the double, binary characteristic that makes twins unique. More than one new life’, ‘a diamond lives’… ‘ a double life’.

This was the concept: a double sparkling, ‘living’ diamond. It became a journey of experimenting, with a whole team of diamond experts. They had to leave the classic paths to find a way, leading to a new process of diamond cut. By excessive R&D, slowly a new technique to cut diamonds was discovered.

Precisely one day… before she gave birth to her human twins, this revolutionary diamond cut was born with the logically corresponding name ‘ANTWERP TWINS ®’ . A unique concept that –literally- reflects a fresh and innovating light to the Antwerp Diamond Industry.
